Agaseke Peace Baskets
Agaseke means Peace in the native language of Rwanda, Kinywarwandan. The shape of the basket and hand stitching design represents a message of peace and reconciliation in post-genocide Rwanda, and for all of the world to celebrate. This basket is handmade using sustainable reads that grow quickly. They are made by a fair trade women's cooperative near the tea farms where our company sources direct.

The baskets are 5 inches tall and serve as excellent decoration, gifts, and for refilling. Request a special color scheme that matches your business or home accent colors. Baskets may be purchased empty or filled with 1 oz tea (14 servings) sealed in a foil bag to preserve freshness.

Agaseke Peace Baskets
All of our tea is available as a retail gift, packed in the classic “Agaseke” peace basket. The baskets are hand-woven by female members of the tea cooperatives, following fair trade principles, and using sustainable reeds.  The classic agaseke design  represents reconciliation and healing in a nation torn by conflict and traumatized by unthinkable acts of violence.  The baskets contain 40 grams of looseleaf tea packed, in a resealable bag.

This loose leaf tea was selected as the best green tea at the Africa Tea Convention in 2013.  It is a steamed green tea with a smooth and mildly astringent flavor.  Grown at an elevation between 1,700-2,000 meters, the leaf is hand-picked and harvested only in the mornings. Similar to orthodox tea, this green tea is processed in traditional tea rollers using specially selected and seasoned timber tables and battens.
